Accompanying Catholic liturgies
The contemporary Roman Catholic Church welcomes visiting choirs singing at the liturgy, and in a few cases even instrumental
ensembles playing for mass. You do not need to be a Catholic, as long as the music follows the liturgical calendar.
While in special occasions more parts of the mass are sung, most times preparing four chants or pieces (Introit, Offertory,
Communion and Exit) is enough to experience the spiritual solemnity of such major cathedrals as at St Peter’s at the Vatican, at
St Mark’s in Venice, at St Francis in Assisi, at Santa Maria Assunta in Pisa or St Nicholas in Bari.
