The Last Supper
This Gothic church was erected by the
Dominicans in the mid-15th century, and it’s
dome was designed by the great Bramante. But
visitors from all over the world flock here to gaze
on a mural in the convent next door. In what
was once a refectory, the incomparable
Leonardo da Vinci adorned one wall with The
Last Supper. A painting of grandeur, the
composition portrays Christ at the moment he
announces to his shocked apostles that one of
them will betray him. Vasari called the portrait
of Judas "a study in perfidy and wickedness.“
Do not forget to let us know you do not want to
miss it: only 25 visitors at a time are allowed in, a
real privilege.
